Mt Fuji Equipment List: Mt Kumotori

Mt Kumotori is a climb over rocky, muddy and rugged terrain. It is advised to have a pair of sturdy high-cut hiking boots which offer support, comfort and waterproofness.

Rain jackets and Pants are a must given the volatility of the weather in Japan. Rain wear also acts as a wind breaker!

Although summertime Japan is hot in general, the higher elevations will most likely be cold! It is advised to bring warm winter wear such as a fleece or even a down jacket in the Spring and Fall!

Warm waterproof gloves are recommended. 

A warm hat for the cold

Hiking Poles to take some of the pressure off your joints and also maintain a good rhythm, and they are great of extra support on the descent

It is advised to have a comfortable hiking backpack with a waist belt to help distribute the weight of your pack to your hips.

On very rainy days, a backpack rain cover will not be enough to keep the contents of your backpack dry. You will be glad to have an extra measure of safety to keep warm layers, electronics and other essentials dry!

We will need to carry any food (including lunch), snacks and water for a 10+ hour day!

3L tends to be a good amount of water to bring

You must be responsible for the disposal of all of your trash! There will be no trash cans available.

Japan is largely cash based!

There is a mountain hut near the summit. When open, food and water can be purchased there.

The first aid kits Mt Fuji Guides carry will be reserved for emergencies. Giving supplies away for small cuts etc, will take resources away for a true emergency.

Please bring a small first aid kit of bandaids, painkillers, wet wipes and any other personal medication you may need.
