1-Day Mt. Fuji Climb: Guided Tours from Tokyo & Gotemba

The perfect choice for hikers who want the ultimate experience in one day. Reach the top, see the views, and be back in time for dinner.

Why You’ll Love This Trip

  • Small Groups, Big Experiences: We keep our groups tiny (max 9 people). You aren’t just a face in a crowd; you’re part of a team.
  • Zero Stress over 2026 registration & fees: We handle all of it. Your entry fees and mountain registration are pre-paid and ready to go.
  • The Scenic Route: Most people just walk up and down. If the weather is on our side, we’ll take you through the Hoei Crater—a massive volcanic moonscape that looks like another planet.

Rental Equipment Available (additional charge will apply)

*Itinerary and timings may adjust based on Mt. Fuji weather, traffic, selected hiking trail, and group pace. This is a "Daylight Ascent" and we do not view climb to the peak for sunrise.

Meet-Up

Choose the start point that fits your Japan itinerary.

  • 04:00 AM | Tokyo Departure: Early morning pickup near Shinjuku Station. Ideal for those staying in the city.
  • 05:30 AM | Gotemba Base Camp: Meet the team at our office (Gotemba Station, Otome Exit). This is our HQ where you can store luggage and fit your rental gear.

Stage 2: The Ascent

We head to the trailhead for a 07:00 AM start. Whether we take the steep Fujinomiya route or the forested Subashiri path, your guide handles the navigation and pacing.

  • Morning | The Climb: Roughly a 5 hour hike. We’ll take frequent "energy breaks" to enjoy the views and manage the altitude.
  • 12:30 PM | The Summit: Reach the highest point in Japan! Explore the crater rim, take photos, and soak in the achievement.
  • 01:30 PM | The Descent: We begin the 3-4 hour journey back down.

Mission Complete

  • 04:30 PM | Back at the Trailhead: We drive back to Gotemba HQ.
  • 06:00 PM | Return to Gotemba: We arrive back at our office to return gear and collect stored luggage and the trip concludes.

Easy Onward Travel

Our tour finishes right next to Gotemba Station, making your next move effortless:

  • Back to Tokyo: Hop on a direct bus or the "Romancecar" train.
  • Off to Hakone: A quick 30-minute bus ride puts you in Japan’s famous hot spring district—the perfect way to soothe your muscles after the climb.

Climbers descending Mt. Fuji on a Mt. Fuji Guides Tour

  • Is it hard? Yes, it’s a good workout! You’ll be hiking for about 9–10 hours.

  • Physical Readiness: This is a rewarding 10-hour trek. We recommend a solid level of cardiovascular fitness to fully enjoy the experience.

  • What about the weather? Fuji is moody. Our guides are pros at reading the clouds and keeping you safe, even if a surprise mist rolls in.

  • Altitude Awareness: All climbers feel the thinning air to a certain extent. No supplementary oxygen is needed. Your guide is trained to identify early symptoms and manage acclimatization.

  • What do I bring? Having the right equipment and make or break your experience. Mt. Fuji Guides has a rental service available for those who do not want to bring all of their equipment to Japan! See our equipment list link below.
